Check out this beautiful short 3D animated short called "Red & White" about one of the beloved traditions which celebrates the coming of spring in Bulgaria! Created by the talented team of Nikol Nikolova and Ioanna Ivanova. For more information, please see the details and links below: On every first of march Bulgarians give "martenitsa" to each other. This is a small piece of adornment made of white and red yarn and can vary in shape and form (necklace, wristband or just pinned on clothing). The typical martenitsa consists of two dolls - boy and a girl, called Pizho and Penda. They are red and white and when worn together they symbolize the wish for health and purity. We wear these things until we see a stork because we believe that the illness and evil that are brought by the winter will be driven away and the spring will bring health and joy. Then we tie them to a tree or put them under a rock. This film was made by Nikol Nikolova and Ioanna Ivanova and created while attending NCAA Bournemouth University in Computer Animation and Visualisation. This short animation took 7 months to make.
