A River of Poetry

submitted by jeromedelapierre on 10/18/16 1

The evening's seven poets, all associated with various faculties at Concordia University, have collectively selected the poetry for performance. The program for the most part evokes cosmopolitan Montreal as a place, as well as humanity's fraught relation to technology. It includes the reading of full poems and extracts in several languages, accompanied by projections and voice recordings. With the collaboration of acclaimed choreographer and Associate Professor of Contemporary Dance Michael Montanaro, the evening's performance is transformed into a multimedia experience in which technology responds instantaneously to the individual poet's expression, voice, speech pattern, pitch and gesture. Ultimately, the technology is harnessed to enhance the evening's intimacy. Artists: Stephanie Bolster, Marc André Brouillette, Jason Camlot, David McGimpsey, Mary di Michele, Sina Queyras and André Roy. Staging and Direction: Michael Montanaro Visual Concept: Michael Montanaro and Jérôme Delapièrre Visual Design: Jérôme Delapièrre Composition and Sound Design Navid Navab Lighting: Tim Rodrigues
