He is, however, responsible for Zero who he intended to be the main character in Mega Man X before the idea was shot down by Capcom brass. Characters drawn by Inafune pose with a W-shaped hand gesture because the number four means death in Japanese, so characters have their ring and middle fingers clasped together, which gives the illusion of three fingers. Because of hardware limitations, Capcom reverse-designed Mega Man by creating a pixel character that read well against Famicom rendered backgrounds.
