Nahum starts off speaking of a judgment that would come starting in the far east of the Assyrian empire but one that would ingulf all of Assyria, known today as Syria and Northwest Iraq. The carnage of its people, the pilfering of stolen goods and assets of the nation would be ripped apart, but the saddest of all is Nahum knew that this future generation would become refugees never to return home.
