Faughnan Family Farm - Clooncliva, County Leitrim, Ireland

submitted by uklmhb on 09/28/16 1

This video, shot in Clooncliva near Mohill in County Leitrim Ireland, shows the farm historically inhabited by Patrick and Ellen Faughnan (nee Ward). They had 8 children some of whom stayed in Ireland and others emigrated to America. Patrick is the younger brother of Tom Faughnan (Tom was the third eldest in the family) (Father of Tom Faughnan of Brooklyn NY and later Washington NJ and Arvada CO). Helen Faughnan, granddaughter of Patrick (Paul) remembers the lovely summers spent on the farm with her parents, grandparents and siblings. In the beginning of the video her brother Paddy Faughnan plays a reel called 'The Rakes of Mallow' on the accordian while Eimear Hanlon, a friend, executes the Irish dance steps. Our families rekindled their connections with the Faughnan's in Ireland with the death of my husband Christopher Faughnan in the World Trade Center in NYC 2001. Siena Faughnan, Chris's Daughter and Tom Faughnan's great, great grand daughter accompanies Helen on the farm visit.
