“What is the ultimate place where I would like to show my work?” X.V. Trying to answer this question, Xavier Veilhan started to imagine a series of atypical exhibitions in the major architectural places of the past hundred years. This echoes his celebration of contemporary architects as statues that he created for his last exhibition in Versailles in September 2009. Rather than with their persona, he now wants to interact with their work, by creating specific situations for some of their constructions. Starting in August 2012 and for two years, the artist reopens the doors of the modernist houses in seven steps, from California to Europe. Architectones by Xavier Veilhan is immersed in this adventure and explores the creative process, the exhibitions and performances, and shows how the artist appropriates the architecture and revives these iconic houses thus offering a new and ultra-contemporary vision of modernism.
