Lake Pochard Holiday Lodges are situated within the Cotswold Water Park, near Cirencester, the capital and gateway to the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. The lodges sit on the banks of stunning Lake Pochard, and all have verandas with views across the 10-acre lake. All lodges are suitable for wheelchair users, welcome pets and are close to the large and airy Waterside Café, which offers home-cooked food to order and free Wi-Fi connection. The Cotswold Water Park is an impressive wetland site and nature reserve covering an area of 40 miles and featuring 150 lakes. The park offers a vast choice of leisure activities, including watersports, excellent bridle paths, off-road cycle paths, many kilometres of footpaths around the park and great opportunities for watching wildlife and birds. A particular highlight is one of the country's largest inland bathing beaches. Walters Lake: A purpose built commercial Match Lake that has been established 9 years and has now matured into an ideal pleasure and match fishery. The lake, approximately 3 acres and consisting of 4 lanes with a total of 73 pegs, has been designed in such a way that every peg fishes towards an island and hedge planting has divided the pegs into 2's. Even on very busy days it seems as though you have your own little lake. The fish stocks have come on a storm, mostly Carp between 5-8lbs with some fish in low doubles. There is also a good head of Tench to 7lb+ and Bream to 8lb+ with some lovely Roach and Rudd up to 1½ lb+. In 2013, match weights were spectacular with many weights of over 300lb and a lake record weight of 446lb caught in May. When the Carp go a bit quieter in the winter months, the silver fish have a chance to show themselves more and we have had several match weights of 30-40lbs of Roach and Skimmers, even in the depths of the winter. The venue opens at 7am with fishing until dusk in the summer and 7.30am until dusk in Winter (Dec-Feb). Lake Pochard: The secret of this lake is now slowly getting out. At present, 10 acres is well stocked with both Mirror and Common Carp. Some 12 fish are well in excess of 30lb, with at least 5 over 35lb. In September 2013, Lake Pochard had its first 40lb+ Carp! The lake is very weedy and this can prove quite challenging at times but would still not be classed as a hard venue. The lake is in the process of being re-landscaped and this will then offer some swims with a more intimate and interesting form of fishing than is offered at the moment. When the work is completed more quality stock will be added to the already 60+ fish.
