A COAL MINER'S PASSION - Episode One of Tor Lowry's third consecutive season of '14 Days - The Great Pool Experiment! Watch as Tor trains a former Coal Miner in West Virginia. KC Hawley had been struggling to reach a higher level in pool, despite practicing every day. Prior to Tor's arrival, it was known that KC was "constantly tweaking his grip, stance, stroke and head alignment," because that is where he thought his problems were. After watching KC play ghost pool and analyzing footage, Tor realized that KC's issues were more related to pattern play, and angle selection, a problem not unlike what is truly a challenge for many pool players. During early training, watch as Tor works with KC on position play, ball pocketing, and various problem shots they discovered together. KC learned that these are all issues that will take a great deal of commitment and energy to correct. Accepting this, like with any player, forces the necessity to put aside ego and be honest with themselves about their true skill level. After all, where a player is headed means far more than where they've been, especially if it is their goal to play their very best! By the second week of training with KC, and after several days of ball pocketing, center-ball positioning and pattern play, KC had a deeper understanding of patterns and angles, and had much tighter control over his cue ball positioning. But, it wasn't an easy process to get to this point, - it was filled with struggles both physical and mental, as KC came to the realization that he now had to change his entire approach to the game. Although difficult, KC persevered and emerged from this process a different player, with a totally different perspective on the game. KC's training began with stroke and ball pocketing drills, but Tor quickly had him move on to half table and full table pattern play. KC not only had to be able to read patterns correctly, but he had to increase his repertoire of shots. Through the first week KC struggled to pocket balls since he had to be more precise with his cue ball position. This is a common stage players go through as they start playing smaller areas for position. By the end of the first week he was beginning to develop a trust for how the angles move the cue ball off the object ball, so his ball pocketing started to improve. There's more, lot's more, as this episode is full of valuable lessons for all pool players working to achieve their personal best! As for KC Hawley, Tor has no doubts at all that he will diligently practice everything he learned and more. In doing so, KC will one day reach his pool objectives! He's committed and very determined - both very necessary ingredients for his success in his quest to be great at the sport he is passionate about! Tor loved KC's family, and was grateful for their submissions on behalf of KC (it's what won him over) and for their support of KC's dream - a truly wonderful family, and Tor will indeed keep track of the continued success of KC, who is now a lifelong friend! #14Days #PoolMonsters #WestVirginia #Determination #Passion #Commitment #BelieveInHim #KCIsAwesome
