Pool Lessons - Julianna Van Goodman and Rae Norgaard - '14 Days - The Great Pool Experiment'

submitted by CueEvent on 09/08/16 1

Watch as Tor trains a very determined Julianna Van Goodman in Oregon. You'll no doubt be able to identify Julianna as a proactive young woman who won't stop the process of elevating her game to its highest level. Tor and Julianna trained for a full 14 Days, with Julianna maintaining a strict evening schedule of additional drills and practice. Tor identifies some of Julianna's weaknesses, such as poor follow-through, which was corrected using stroke drills; poor pattern identification and a stance which needed some tweaking. By the end of the third day in training, Julianna became far more skilled using the sliding cue ball, improved speed control and correct angles. They move on to half-table pattern play using center, high and low and work with tangent line drills. Julianna was great at recording every problem shot, and further using repetitive practice techniques to overcome them. By day eight of training, Tor began introducing spin back to Julianna's game. After learning better cue ball control, pattern play and speed control, Julianna's consistency rises quickly to the point at which she begins running patterns out consistently. There's a rare treat contained in this video; some rare footage of a television program from the 1980's which featured an episode entitled 'The Hustler.' Though the show cancelled after only nine episodes, this is rare footage which remains a tribute to legendary players, MInnesota Fats and Fast Eddie. Later, Tor had the pleasure of meeting and working with a young woman in Rae Norgaard of Illinois. Rae was the first '14 Days - The Great Pool Experiment' participant to be trained in Tor's filming location, based just north of Las Vegas, and on Tor's brand new 9' Diamond Pro-Am Table. Though they had a short time together, only three days, Rae impressively puts in over 30 hours on the table. Tor quickly felt Rae possessed a great deal of natural ability and believed she needed the most work toward improving her pattern play, cue ball control and her mental game. They worked on her problem shots, and pattern play; beginning half-table pattern play on day one of training. By the end of her training, Tor believed Rae to be a person who has the ability to reach a high level. Though her practice time is limited due to full time employment, Rae's natural ability, combined with her determination to continue working on everything she learned, will take her far toward achieving her pool objectives. Tor extends his deep gratitude to Michael Deitchman for generously allowing training for Julianna to occur in his lovely home. Tor continues to be inspired by the many ways Michael contributes to his community. Tor also extends his gratitude to Paul Marquez for the submission of his great recommendation on behalf of Julianna Van Goodman. Watch for more great players in upcoming episodes of '14 Days - The Great Pool Experiment!' #14Days #TheGreatPoolExperiment #PoolMonsters #Determination #Passion
