Minister for Industry, Trade & Tourism Hon. Faiyaz Siddiq Koya today officiated at World Surf League (WSL) Fiji Pro Surf Championships at Tavarua Island. The 2016 edition was won by Bariel Medina of Brazil who defeated Australian Matt Wilkinson. In presenting the prizes Minister Koya thanked the resorts and staff of Tavarua and Namotu Island Resorts and the vanua for their hospitality. He also thanked WSL for their continued support towards raising the profile of the sport in Fiji and the Pacific for many years, which in turn has given locals a chance to also rub shoulders with the best surfers from around the globe. The win vaults Medina up to second on the rankings behind Wilkinson.
