Blue-Yellow-Red Excerpts

submitted by Robbie Lynn Hunsinger on 09/06/16 1

Blue-Yellow-Red is a 3 movement installation and performance piece for interactive light, english horns, vietnamese oboe, soprano saxes, bass and projected visuals. It is inspired by Kandinsky's writings on synesthesia. This video excerpt is of Blue, the first movement, which features multiple English horns and upright bass. Movement in beams of colored light trigger 3 channels of music and affect projected visuals in real-time. Hunsinger performed and recorded the composition for soprano saxophones, Vietnamese oboe, Irish whistles, upright bass and percussion. This live performance features Missy Raines on upright bass and Hunsinger on English horn, playing chamber music with the installation itself and creating an immersive musical and visual experience.
