"Independence of the Seas" & "Balmoral" depart from Southampton - 29/10/2013

Now that the clocks have gone back, the light on a good day at around 16:30-17:00 is almost dusk when cruise ships sail from Southampton Docks. A fine example was seen on Tuesday 29th October 2013 with the departures of Royal Caribbean International's "Independence of the Seas" & Fred. Olsen Cruise Line's "Balmoral". Both ships were booked to depart at 16:30. "Independence of the Seas" departed from the 'City' Terminal at 16:25 heading for Le Harve. "Balmoral" departed from the 'Mayflower' Terminal at 16:31 but had to go up to turn in the Upper Swinging Ground before sailing for Madeira. A third cruise ship - AIDA's "AIDAsol" was also originally due to be in port, but due to the bad weather over the past couple of days, she visited Southampton on Monday 28th and then Le Harve on this day rather than the other way round.
