The fantastic original opening scene from Star Wars, way back in 1977. Little do some folks know, the title was renamed to "Episode IV: A New Hope" in the theatrical re-release in 1981. This was after the first or second draft for Empire was written and Lucas and co decided to make the films episodic in nature, as a tribute to the old serials from the 30's like Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers. Perhaps that was how it was originally intended, but Fox thought it should be named Star Wars, in case there was never a sequel. . (NOTE) This video is not the actual original footage, restored or anything. It is in fact a hybrid of the original title crawl with some minor color correction and then I spliced in the Blu-ray footage, as for the most part, its unaltered. The music cue of the planet is a bit off in this release, which I never noticed. Anyway, everything about this opening sequence is fucking genius. Star Wars Blu-ray 2011
