Remembering Srinivas Aravamudan at Duke-FHI

submitted by GHCT on 08/04/16 1

At the Franklin Humanities Institute, we continue to mourn the passing of our former Director Srinivas Aravamudan (1962-2016). This gathering with Duke faculty and friends was held at the FHI on April 25, on the 13th day after his passing. In the Hindu tradition, the 13th day marks the end of the formal mourning period, signifying that the departed has left his liminal phase and been embraced into his afterlife among his ancestors. fhi.duke.edu/aravamudan_obit.html A formal memorial and celebration of his life and work, at Duke and beyond, was held at the Nasher Museum on May 7, 2016.
