Maradona teaches soccer skills in South Africa

submitted by bloggeneral on 01/30/14 1

Football legend and head coach of Argentina's national team, Diego Maradona, visited Selelekela Secondary School in Soweto, South Africa, where he hosted a UNICEF-organised soccer clinic. In South Africa, school-based violence, HIV and AIDS, poor or inadequate infrastructure and the lack of recreational facilities, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, have emerged as major challenges to education. Sports activities at Selelekela Secondary School are part of ongoing efforts by South Africa's Department of Basic Education, UNICEF and community development partners, using the power of sport to help children and young people build confidence and develop life skills.
