Local authorities in Lancashire have urged Chorley hospital to draw up an action plan, to re-open its accident and emergency department. The hospital was downgraded to an 'urgent care service' last week, after Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said there was a shortage of doctors. The trust said they are absolutely committed to re-instating the A&E department. But at a meeting on Friday MP Lindsay Hoyle suggested that the NHS Trust was deliberately downgrading the Hospital.
