Deactivated weapons banned from France commemorations? - Lancashire Headline News

submitted by uklmhb on 07/14/16 1

July 1st will mark 100 years, since the Battle of the Somme during the First World War. 'The Great War Society' are set to take part in memorial centenary commemorations in France, paying their respects to the East Lancashire regiment, better known as the Accrington Pals. However, the group may have to do so without their deactivated weapons, because of EU counter-terrorism rules. They are now lobbying MPs and MEPs for an exemption, which would allow them to take their deactivated weapons to France, and bring them home again, without fear of confiscation or possible prosecution.
