The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, is inviting Canadians to submit their ideas and solutions so we can all work together to address climate change. Addressing climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our generation. It is one that I, our prime minister and Canadians take very seriously. It is also a tremendous opportunity to build a strong, clean and sustainable economy for all Canadians. Now we need your help. Our government has been working very hard and has taken concrete actions. In the fall of 2015, Canada helped negotiate the adoption of an ambitious international agreement on climate change. The Paris Agreement is an unprecedented showing of global cooperation, and I am very proud that Prime Minister Trudeau signed it on Earth Day on behalf of all of us. We are also working hand in hand with our continental neighbours, the United States and Mexico, and have taken action with the U.S. on methane. Here at home, our prime minister has met with premiers from all provinces and territories as well as leaders from Indigenous groups. All have reaffirmed the importance for our country of working together to grow our economy while reducing emissions. The Government of Canada has also put forward in its budget some substantial investments that will help us foster innovation in clean technology, build green infrastructures and create opportunities for Canadians. But the climate change challenge cannot be resolved by governments alone. That is why we need your help. We need your ideas and solutions. And we need everyone to be engaged in this national effort.
