Taxis in Oman to be revamped, regulated

submitted by Observer Videos on 06/08/16 1

In line with the government’s plans to provide a high quality public transport in the country, the Ministry of Transport and Communications on Tuesday granted licences to two companies for management of taxi services. The licence provided to Mwasalat includes the management of the taxis operating at Muscat International Airport, commercial centres and malls in Muscat, in addition to providing taxi-on- demand in the capital. Ahmed al Bulushi, CEO, Mwasalat, in a statement welcomed the ministry’s decision to regulate the taxi transport sector. The taxi management company will fix a meter in each vehicle to calculate the fares.
