Youngsters from across Pembrokeshire have been hitting the beach to take advantage of the county's coastline and their love of the water. The Pembrokeshire Leisure Beach Days, taking place around the county, include kayaking and environmental activities such as rock pooling and strand lining. The scheme is part of the Environment Agency's Water Recreation Challenge Fund for Wales splash project where the aim is to increase access to the coast. It also links in with the beach award scheme administered by Keep Wales Tidy. Part-funded through the Welsh Assembly Government's free swimming initiative -- to provide more structured aquatic activities, as well as free swims for children at local authority swimming pools -- the activities have proved a huge hit.
