This was my first time up in the Peak at this hour to catch the sunrise. For me, it meant a 4am get up and an hour and three quarter drive to Edale. I arrived in Edale around 6am, left the car and headed off into the pitch black. My route took me into the village itself to pick up the Pennine Way. After a short walk, I took a path across the fields and upwards towards Grindslow Knoll. After about an hour, and just in time I had made it to the top and set-up up the GoPro to capture some time-lapse sequences which you can see at the beginning of this video. To watch the mists pour down into the valley off Kinder was awesome. Flowing like water off the hills. I had around half an hour watching the sunrise. Definitely worth the early start. From Grindslow Knoll I headed NW to meet the edge path and along to the top of Crowden Brook. I followed this path for a while taking in Crowden Tower, The Wool Packs, Pym Chair, Noe Stool and then B lined to Kinder Low trig point. I had a good chat with a chap from Manchester who had also got out early to enjoy the fine morning. Once leaving the trig point I joined the Pennine Way again, which had become very busy do to a big group of Scouts doing their Kinder Challenge and followed it past Edale Rocks, down Jacobs Ladder and back across the fields to the car. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.
