This is a short film about a 2.5 mile long circular route around Dove Stone Reservoir, which is challenging for wheelchair users, but also achievable. The site is owned by United Utilities and managed in partnership with the RSPB. The reservoir is located just outside the village of Greenfield, off Holmfirth Road (A635) in the Peak District National Park. The paths on the route vary in condition and quality, ranging from smooth tarmac surfaces to rough gravel. There are also some steep inclines, which some people may require assistance with, especially if they use a manual wheelchair. The film was made in September 2014 and the wheelchair adaptation is a FreeWheel that allows the user to access rougher terrain through lifting the wheelchair's front casters off of the ground. The car park has 4 disabled parking spaces and there is a toilet block with a disabled WC. A RADAR Key is required for the toilet and for fully opening some gates on the reserve. When the weather is nice, there is a van that sells hot snacks and drinks and there is also an ice cream van. There are several benches for people to use in the car park and along the walk as well as a picnic area. By ExperienceCommunity We'd love you to describe in detail your favourite walks around the UK. Whether it's a quiet amble through the local woods, an idyllic stroll down a canal, or an epic trek across peaks and dales. We'd love you to share your route, with clear instructions – where to start and finish, directions and landmarks, how long it takes, and whether there's a pub on the way. We'd also like to know why a walk is special to you. We will turn our favourite walks into maps for other readers to cut out and keep, which will appear in upcoming issues of the Guardian's monthly Do Something magazine.
