Peak District Walk - Cressbrook Dale & Peter's Stones

submitted by uklmhb on 05/23/16 1

In this video I walk through the very tranquil Cressbrook Dale National Nature Reserve while heading to visit a spot that has a very gruesome history. Peter's Stone aka Gibbet Rock was the site of the last ever Gibbeting in Derbyshire. A gibbet was a device from which the bodies of criminals were formerly hung in chains and left suspended after execution, their bones would eventually rattle against the iron cage serving as a deterrent to other would be criminals. After visiting Peter's Stone I then head to Litton, Tideswell Dale and back to Monsal Head via Millers Dale, Cressbrook Mill and the Monsal Trail. The song used in the video is a cheeky remix I did of "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory :-) Related Links.
