Heaton Park in Manchester is sometimes described as one of the largest in Europe. I don't know if that's exaggeration. It's certainly a huge park and quite a surprise if you're used to the smaller green spaces in other parts of the city. I'm a hill walker. It's what I love to do in the Pyrenees, Scotland, Lake District, Snowdonia and Peak District. I don't do that as much as I like however, which means I walk parks and nature reserves and enjoy them accordingly. Parks are a lovely resource in congested cities. Heaton Park is one of the best in Manchester. Not because it's notably scenic, but because of its size and elevation with the highest point in Manchester to enjoy.
