Dusty Springfield - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me (1966) HQ

submitted by mrm123 on 05/18/16 1

I believe this was the greatest song Dusty Springfield ever sang. She recorded many memorable songs that would go down in music history, most of them also favorites of mine. But THIS song was the one that, if no other song could, would immortalize Dusty Springfield as a goddess. It is a love ballad where the sheer power of her vocal ranges from quiet despair to a stellar hope that cuts through the orchestral promise of certain tragedy. It is a soaring spirit facing insurmountable odds that wins even if it loses. This IS Dusty Springfield at her greatest.
