Stevie Wonder - My Cherie Amour (1969) HQ

submitted by mrm123 on 05/18/16 1

1969, certainly by the spring, was probably the real year the 1970s began. I haven't done very many music videos of songs from that year, "Touch Me" by The Doors and "Things I'd Like To Say" by The New Colony Six being about it so far ... until today. Of all the songs ever recorded by Stevie Wonder, and I love nearly all of them, "My Cherie Amour" is the one that really takes me back to that wonderful year, and a spring and summer that seemed to stretch out forever. This is a romantic love song about beginnings, real and in the imagination, popular at a time that itself seemed to be a new beginning, sunny green as the baby leaves of spring. "My Cherie Amour," released on January 28, debuted on the top 100 of most US charts in May, reaching #3 on Cash Box and #4 on Billboard August 2, 1969.
