Google SketchUp Tips - Resizing a Cabinet

submitted by sketchup_archive on 04/15/16 1

All of the KraftMaid Cabinetry SketchUp models on the 3D Warehouse have been created as Dynamic Components wich can be easisly re-sized and configured to match the real-world sizes that are available for each cabinet. The process for importing and resizing a cabinet is simple: First, locate the desired cabinet in the Google 3D Warehouse. To search the Warehouse from within SketchUp, you can either choose Get Models from the Google toolbar, or use the search field in SketchUp's component browser window. Either of these 2 options then lets you download the selected cabinet model directly into your project. After importing the Cabinet, SketchUp will automatically put you into the Move tool so that you can correctly position the cabinet within your project. The Kraftmaid cabinet models are designed to grow to the right; so when moving a cabinet, it's best to align it by moving it from an endpoint at either the top or bottom of the left side of the face frame. Next, with the cabinet model selected, choose Component Options from the Dynamic Component toolbar. The Component Options dialog includes a drop down menu with available sizes to choose from. Simply choose a new size, click apply, and you're done.
