First experience with Ubiduo

Impressive experience with Ubiduo I attended The Asia and Pacific Disability Forum, General Assembly and Conference 2014 from November 26 to 30 November, 2014 in Hanoi, Vietnam. During the preparation , I had trouble finding a sign language interpreter who speaks English fluently, and finally there was only one who was available. It was a full-day event, hence there should be two sign language interpreters. In order to solve the problem, finally Ms. Ekawati from The Asia Foundation who is deaf offered to use Realtime Captioning Service (CART). It was the first time I engaged with this incredible device. I tried it before leaving for Hanoi. Apparently, this device created a smooth communication between a deaf person and a hearing person. It seemed like a regular, normal communication. During the conference, the note taker who was operating the CART acted as translator too. I participated the event from the opening to the closing smoothly without any difficulties. The usage of CART made by Ubiduo is so remarkable. Currently, only two people own this tool in Indonesia, they are Ms. Ekawati and the Asia Foundation. Hopefully, in the long run, deaf people in Indonesia would understand the usage of CART Ubiduo.
