Announcer: Welcome to another HealthNews Video news release brought to you by HealthNews. In today’s news, a chemical additive found in non-organic turkey to enhance muscle mass can cause serious health problems in humans and has been found fatal in some animals. While meat companies are starting to transition away from growth hormones, there is another drug called Topmax (also known as Ractopamine) that is permitted to be fed to turkeys in the United States, Canada, and Mexico even though it is banned in dozens of countries due to health issues. You won’t find it on the label, it’s been shown to leave residues in the meat, and the meat companies are not required to tell you whether they use it. Ractopamine is a growth-enhancing drug that ensures those Thanksgiving turkeys are nice and big and plump for our holiday feast. But this drug has been proven to cause massive health problems—even death—in other animals. The FDA has allowed widespread use of Ractopamine in turkey feed since its approval in 2008 and the CFIA also allows it. It’s fed to some conventional turkeys sometimes right up to the point in which they are slaughtered. There is no testing for Ractopamine residue, so we really have no idea how much we are eating. Ractopamine is prohibited in other countries like China, Tawaian and the European Union, causing some of our exports to be rejected. If you eat turkey, the only way to ensure you are not eating Ractopamine is to buy a turkey that is certified organic because ractopamine, antibiotics, and GMOs are prohibited in organic farming. And remember your best source for everything health is your chiropractor.  Visit your chiropractor regularly and make sure your nervous system is functioning 100%.
