What was the significance between Methuselah and the Flood of Noah?

What exactly was the significance between these two? Sometimes within scripture, God give us little nuggets of information, of which we usually skip right past. Taking time to have a closer look at these clues however can sometimes lead to some interesting discoveries, discoveries that show just how marvelous and genius God really is!
