submitted by ABCi TV on 03/12/16 1

“If we want to curb anaemia and reduce maternal mortality and child deaths in Ghana, then the craving of our women for baked clay is one issue we must give the highest priority” Prof. Matilda Steiner – Asiedu, Head of Dept. Of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Ghana, Legon. Loss of blood during delivery is the most singular cause of maternal deaths in Ghana. This money is wasted on the thousands of women addicted to baked clay or ayilo. What is to be done?
