MHC broke the story of Perfect Daba, the young mother from Torgome who gave birth to a baby girl and bled to death after failing to reach the hospital.The story produced shock waves and a huge public outcry with calls to the VRA to open the gate at all times, upgrade the local health clinic and support Sammy, Perfect's widower and his 3 children. Last Sunday, VRA met the elders and people of Torgorme and promised to consider these demands, a significant shift from their initial stance. We talk to Prof. Dzodzi Tsikata, on the Volta River Resettlement Project and human rights lawyer, Frema Coker Appiah.
