Close encounter: Norwegian kayaker escapes 20-ton humpback whale

submitted by ZOPDESIGN on 01/24/14 1

Berthold Hinrichs from North Norway collided with with a Humpback whale in his kayak on a daily trip in Gryllefjord at Senja last week. During his tour he hit a 20 ton whale or rather, the whale hit him when the mamal deceided to take an air-brake just underneath his kayak. Hinrichs told later that he did not understand what was was happening before he was sitting on the whale's back. Happily the whale slid off and Hinrichs paddeled away as fast as he could, saving his life. He said he didn't have time to be afraid, but added that he must have had a guardian angel up there looking after him. At that day the Gryllefjord was packed with herring and so was the number of whales hunting them. euronews: the most watched news channel in Europe Subscribe! eurone.ws/10ZCK4a euronews is available in 14 languages: eurone.ws/17moBCU In English: Website: www.euronews.com/news Facebook: www.facebook.com/euronews.fans Twitter: twitter.com/euronews Google+: google.com/+euronews VKontakte: vk.com/en.euronews
