Transfagarasanul the highest road in Romania and one of the most spectacular area of the country stretches thru The Fagaras mountains at an altitude of 2030 meters ( peak ). It`s southern part starts at Bascov near Pitesti in Arges County and it finishes at Cartisoara in Sibiu County after 91.5 km. It was opened on September 20th 1974.
