English/Nat U-S President Bill Clinton addressed a hall packed by ethnic Albanians in Kosovo on Tuesday and said that together with NATO they had won the war, but only the people could win the peace. To a rapturous reception at a sports hall in the capital Pristina, he said they must try to forgive and forget past atrocities committed against them. His one day visit to Kosovo is part of a tour of the Balkans designed to express support for NATO and U-N efforts to build peace between Serbs and ethnic Albanians. Clinton also wants to see how reconstruction has moved forward in the five months since the allied campaign ended against Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic. The U-S president was joined by U-S Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who told the crowd that the courage of Kosovo's children is recognised worldwide. After spending time chatting with children in the audience, Clinton went back to Pristina airport to board a helicopter bound for a massive army camp, home to US troops stationed in Kosovo. He was to later celebrate an early thanksgiving at Camp Bondsteel, where he told American soldiers they had helped reverse ethnic cleansing. You have a lesson for us about determination in the way you have struggled to maintain the language, the culture and the homes that have been yours for centuries."
