Serbo-Croat/Nat K-FOR troops are tearing down checkpoints and disarming Kosovo Liberation Army soldiers. Their efforts are aimed at securing the return of thousands of Serb refugees who have fled to Montenegro in fear of revenge attacks from ethnic Albanians and an empowered K-L-A. Belgrade has called on the Serbs who have left Kosovo to return to their homes, but many are anxious to do so. Late on Saturday, Italian troops were called upon to deal with a shooting incident in Pec, a city in western Kosovo. Three Serbs were shot dead and a fourth was wounded, allegedly by K-L-A soldiers after an arguement between the two sides. Serb civilians are growing increasingly fearful of revenge attacks by returning ethnic Albanians and an empowered K-L-A. By Sunday, Italian troops were tearing down checkpoints and disarming K-L-A soldiers in an effort to secure the return of thousands of Serb refugees who have fled to Montenegro. Belgrade has called on the Serbs to return to their homes. Many of the refugees waiting at the border of Kosovo and Montenegro are anxious to do so, but they're waiting for NATO forces to clear K-L-A soldiers from the road. SOUNDBITE: (Serbo-Croat) "I don't want to be blamed because I am very attached to my people and very attached to Pec. We Serbs are not guilty of all this." SUPER CAPTION: Milorad Rajovic, Serb refugee Near the city of Pec, Serb houses are ablaze, proof of the refugees concern of retaliatory attacks. German peacekeepers have reported two arson attacks near Pec and say they know of several more blazes in the area which have not yet been investigated. Meanwhile British forces have set up checkpoints on the outskirts of Pristina to check vehicles entering the city. They say they're looking for ammunition or weapons. One of the cars stopped, contained three K-L-A fighters in full combat-gear. SOUNDBITE: (English) "As they came though one of the lads let us know that they were wearing combats so we stopped it and checked it. And then we did find two grenades and two military grenades which were like a second world war grenade and a number of 762 cases for the Kalashnikov rifle and two either .50 or 12.7 millimetre, or thereof, of armoured piercing rounds along with a knife."
