Things to do in Bosnia overall. I covered most of the places and did main stuff in 8 days. On April 2015, I decided to pack my stuff and travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina for 7 nights and 8 days. Honestly, I didn't think that Bosnia in is so beautiful and relaxed country that I never experience ever. The general ideas of Bosnia is that it is a war country and not advisable to visit. As usual and I'm an adventurist person, I told to myself that I need to explore and take risks to see what is going on in this country after 20 years of war. Picture When I arrived, the airport is so small comparing to other airports were it took me less than a minute from immigration to taxi area out of the airport. Then, I started to realize that the war country idea is started to get confirmed. However, I already made couple of arrangements with some people specialized in tourism to pick me up and drop me into my living place. So, we started driving to my living place; I started to see some old building with war marks such as: bullets on walls, damaged and fully burned out buildings, claps houses and much more. I though then that this trip will be tuff and hard comparing to countries that I been in. While driving, Enisa (the amazing tour girl) is explaining what is going on with the war and some history of Bosnia in brief, it came to notice couple of modern buildings such as: hotels, malls, towers and others which gave me an indicator that the country is into development stage and they overcome the negative impacts of the war. Picture Then, I said that something is going lighter on my trip and will start to see some modern areas that will suitable to people who are looking not only for historical and heritage areas. While driving further, I started to see an amazing landscape and great mountain view. Then, I realized that this country could be also for people who are looking for nature and relaxation areas with cool weather. For me who is coming from the middle east with a temperature reaches sometimes to 50 or 55 degrees, the weather in Bosnia was soooo cool and great to chill out. Then, drove heading to my living place, we passed near the area that the WW1 started because of were the crown prince was murdered. It was new info for me to know how the WW1 started and were it has reached to because of such an incident. Continuing driving, I started to see heritage buildings from the time of Roman, Othman Empire and much more. The buildings were too old could be older than 200 years and still look in good shape with all what the country went through. Picture Finally, we arrived to my living place which was up almost up of the hills. My choice of accommodation is to live the local and traditional life as what the Bosnia's citizen are living. So, I rented a room in one of the family houses which is a unique experience for me to stay in foreign country with family which I never experienced before. When we arrived, I were so happy with the welcoming of the house owner that embarrassed me with his welcome and generosity. Then, he started to show me my room were I will be staying in which was fully equipped with toilet, bathroom, kitchen and separate room with keys to go out and come back without any disturbance to the family. Beside of that, the view of the room in front of the house garden and the city. What I also loved that they have small puppy (dog) called "Shaik" who didn't welcome well initially then got used to me later :D but I loved him anyway. Picture After I left my bags in the room and it's the time to start my half day in the city. We drove to the Old Town near the National Library that it has been damaged during the world. The library is been renovated in full 2014 and seriously, it is a unique piece of art. They were saying that during the war, the library lost almost 2 Million of books and now, the premise is been used as part of historical and heritage places for the tourists. Also, it is used as city council and officials. The library which is a museum now is located next to the Old Town which almost near to the place I stay. The museum has 3 floors and they are segregated as underground, ground and 1st floor. The underground and ground is converted into museum and 1st floor is converted and used for the city council and city official meetings. It is too easy to explore and there many pictures describing how was the city before the war, during the war, after war and after renovation. Don't forget to like, comment, share and subscribe.
