Soviet oppression and terror, which Angele and her family had to go through, encouraged her to search for the like-minded, communicate with those who preserve Lithuanian identity and at a critical moment do not hesitate to defend Lithuanian Independence. At the fatal night of January 13, a crowd of civilians gathered near the Tower, ready to prevent soldiers occupying the Television Tower. The building was surrounded by live chain of people, hoping that tanks will not roll in the armless crowd. However, the tanks did not stop moving towards them, flinging and crashing their bodies under the tracks. Angele ended up beneath the tank, which trampled all over her leg. Even so, with the help of her optimism and medical professionalism, she is able to walk. Angele remembers long lasting fear for her and other witnesses' safety, following the events, the period of investigation and spreading propaganda. The woman claims not feeling any hatred towards the soldiers who became puppets of the existing regime. She is surprised at her own determination to participate in the events and defend the Tower, no matter what could happen.
