The cross-border 'Deutsch-Luxemburgisch Naturpark' is characterized by a hilly, gently rolling landscape with deeply incised valleys and craggy rocks. The park has an area of about 789 sq km, of which about 357 sq km lies in Luxembourg. The 'German-Luxembourg Nature Park' includes the western side of the Südeifel. 99 official 'naturparks' have been established under Germany's Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG). They comprise about 25 percent of the total land area of Germany and are brought together under the Association of German Nature Parks. Parks that overlap into neighbouring countries are led by Europarc. September 8-11, 2010
