Vienna, Austria Travel - Visit Hundertwasserhaus

submitted by europelmbh on 03/09/16 1

A fascinating building that reflects unpredictability and randomness in nature. (Vienna, Austria) The Hundertwasserhaus is just another residential apartment complex. So why would you be interested? Well, let us take a look. Like other historic cities, Vienna's beauty comes from a traditional historic sense of design. Each historic period had rules about lines and forms and architecture. In the center of town you would not find any buildings that break these rules. Those shapes of course are not found in nature. Hundertwasser thought they created a false illusion of a life separate from the natural world. He wanted to show imperfection and unpredictability in the world, using lines that did not have a straight edge. That is why the Hundertwasserhaus, his greatest work, is constructed with curved walls, crooked floors, wild colors, and a forest planted on the roof. What is your favorite part? "My favorite part actually are the toilets." The toilets? "Yes. They are really very modern...very artistic, it is very nice." In the middle of all the history you can still come and visit the Hundertwasserhaus for a little bit of 20th century innovation. I am Daniel Cronin, showing you Vienna.
