Food and energy. These are two of a few commodities that borderland areas can offer and a part of local economy that has still dynamic development. However, such development can negatively affects natural, ecological, social and cultural aspects of traditional countryside. It can disturb its continuity or, on the other hand, secure sustainable development. The topic of the studio was strategic planning and sustainable development of czech-austrian borderland. The town Slavonice in South Bohemian region was selected as a case study. There were two workshops in Slavonice and Cazenovia, NY. Student participants were not only students of architecture, but also landscape architecture and landscape ecology. The participating institutions were Faculty of Architecture ČVUT, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, State University of New York and Faculty of science University of South Bohemia. The stress was put on international and interdisciplinary cooperation. www.landscapearchitecture.cz video made by Cazim Dervisevic
