submitted by europelmbh on 03/09/16 1

This giant woodcarving was created by Jozef Pekara from Rajecke Teplice, Slovakia. It took Jozef 18 years to complete the project (1980 ~ 1998). The entire relief carving measures 8.5 meters wide, 2.5 meters deep and 3 meters high. This immense carved panorama of Slovakia contains 150 animal and 170 human figures showing the history of Slovakia (past and present) and the traditional ways of life of the Slovak people. Slovensky Bethlehem can be found in the small town of Rajecka Lesna, approximately 30 kilometers south of Zilina.
