www.aswetravel.com/taking-glacier-express-switzerland/ Vevey, Switzerland The train ride from Geneva was incredible. Really nice. Yeah, it went the whole way around, like right next to the Geneva Lake, and now we’re here in Vevay. We’re outside the Riviera Lodge, where we’re going to be staying for the next few days. Looks like a really cute village. It’s a really beautiful place. Should we go and check in? There are many small villages on the surrounding hills above Vevay, and the most popular thing to do in Vevay is to actually take a short train ride up onto the mountains. And they’ve got vineyards up there, and you can walk through the vineyards, taste some local wine. And you get a great panoramic view over Lake Geneva, over the Swiss Alps. And apparently milk chocolate was invented up here as well. We jumped off the train and arrived in Chexbres, a village. A cute little Swiss village up here overlooking Lake Geneva. Amazing view I think. We’re going to walk around the village, and walk along the vineyards, and see what it’s like up here. I love how Switzerland has like so many small little villages you can stroll around in. The houses are so cute I think. We’re looking for a vineyard to walk through. We came here and we’ve got—how many?—thirteen vineyards in different directions. Let’s go up I think, and get a better view of the lake and also some vineyards. They’re just growing everywhere on all the houses. It’s really amazing how they can grow out of pretty much nothing, and these vines are growing around along this whole house here. See how small they are? That’s going to be like a big—A big massive bunch of grapes. The view from here is just incredible. It’s breathtaking, I mean, overlooking the whole lake, the vineyards, the houses, the mountains with the snowy tops. It’s just amazing. Ok we’re in the middle of one of the many vineyards here in the Vevay area. It’s so quiet, it’s peaceful. It’s really peaceful here, it’s beautiful. This is one of those places where you could just walk back like zigzag and just think, about life. It’s a great place just to relax. To just sit down, enjoy some chocolate, and just enjoy the view. I love Switzerland. We’ve been here—I’ve been here three times, and I’m just—it gets better and better and better, you know. It’s really a shame that backpackers avoid coming to Switzerland, because it’s such a beautiful country. Every part of Switzerland that I’ve been to has just been breathtakingly beautiful. And it has the reputation of being crazily expensive, and in some parts that’s true, but it’s also, it’s not that bad. You really—I really recommend people coming to Switzerland, just if only for a few days, because they won’t regret it. When we arrived in Vevay yesterday, we actually found out that milk chocolate was invented here in the 1800s, and Nestlé was the first company to produce it, and they are still based here in Vevay. So we thought we’d buy some chocolate and that could be our local taste for Switzerland. Chocolate’s always good. So we’re sitting here, vineyards, milk chocolate—Beautiful view. The lake. It’s perfect really you know. Switzerland sums up the pleasure of life really.
