As former Governmental Advisor on Landscape and one of the directors of H+N+S Landscape Architects, Dirk Sijmons explains, the Netherlands is a mostly man-made body of land. As it is surrounded for a large part by the sea, and indeed is partly situated below sea-level, water management is a big concern. Luckily, mastering complex water issues is precisely what H+N+S excels in. Currently one of their major projects is the National Park De Hoge Veluwe, a nature area spanning 55 square kilometres. The redesign is based on the idea of articulating the characteristics of the various landscapes that can be experienced there. www.hnsland.nl CREDITS Commissioning editor Submarine: Geert van de Wetering Producer: Olivia Sophie van Leeuwen Research: Liselot Francken Director: Rob Schroder Camera: Diderik Evers Sound: Carla van der Meijs Editor/Colour Correction: Maurik de Ridder Music/Sound Design: Pastelle Music Produced by Submarine, Femke Wolting & Bruno Felix www.submarine.nl Commissioned by DutchDFA www.dutchdfa.com Like Dutch Profiles on Facebook www.facebook.com/dutchprofiles
