Video from Ribs and Blues 2015 in Raalte, Netherlands Raalte is a small city in the East of The Netherlands and most Dutch people have never even heard of it. Which is actually pretty weird as Raalte has an amazing festival every year. It is called Ribs and Blues, and is the largest free blues festival in The Netherlands. Each year they have an amazing line-up with national and international artists. In 2016 it will be the 20th edition, and the way it's going I expect it to take on another 20 years. International artists like Solomon Burke, Candy Dulfer, Mud Morganfield (son of Muddy Waters), Eric Burdon and The Animals have performed here, and every year the line-up keeps growing and getting more amazing. My parents have been going to the Ribs and Blues festival for a couple of years now and if I had the possibility I always joined them. My dad has an amazing music collection of Blues and Soul, they are two of the many musical varieties he listens to. I basically grew up with these two genres and still love to listen to this kind of music today. In the past, I saw Solomon Burke perform here even though he did not come to The Netherlands often. Because of these reasons I decided to bring Zeyu with me to show him the festival, food, music, and other things, as I enjoy the atmosphere every time. Besides music there are stands selling records, CD’s, clothes, comics, jewelry, and so on. There are many food carts here so you won't go hungry, some of them are named after US states: ‘Louisiana’, ‘Arizona’, ‘Kentucky’ and so on. There is also Surinamese food, spare ribs, BBQ, burgers and so much more. You pay with festival tokens that you can get at special ticket counters. But that's not all, there is also a kids area where children can enjoy themselves at attractions like: a kids obstacle similar to the tv show ‘wipe-out’, a climbing a net, a bow and arrow version of paintball/speedball with round and soft tips, face painting, and even haircuts! It is a lot of fun and suitable for the whole family.
