After staying a few days at our home base of Biberach, Germany, we recoup and headed north towards the UK. Luxembourg was our first stop where we hung out in the capitol city, roamed around, and dined on vegan Indian cuisine at Nirvana Café. Next, we traveled to Ghent, Belgium and walked around the old city filled with beautiful castles, bridges, and canals. With the Netherlands just a stones throw away; we crossed borders and spent the night. In the morning, we grabbed some amazing produce (probably the best watermelon I’ve ever had) and freshly squeezed orange juice from a local supermarket. Even though we were loving the windmills of Holland, we had our ferry tickets purchased and had only a day to spend back in Belgium. What little we knew about Bruges, we were determined to spend our precious time there. The cloudy weather didn’t stop us from enjoying the cobblestone streets and passing by insane amounts of Belgium chocolate stores. Sadly, we couldn’t find any vegan chocolate because the treats are manufactured with milk powder and other dairy products. However, we were pleased to find an all veg restaurant called De Bron. This tasty yet simple spot offers predetermined dishes chalked filled with fresh local veggies and crispy tofu. After devouring our late lunch, we headed to Calais and boarded our van on a ferry to… the UK!
