Scott Burton, swimming for Nottingham Leander (Lane 2) wins the Bronze Medal in the 50m Breastroke Final at the 2004 Nottinghamshire County Championships, held at Water Meadows Swimming Complex, Mansfield, 28th February 2004. Official Time: 31.49 secs. Primary Memoir From This Race: "I can remember getting off to a great start, and achieving good speed from the underwater phase into the break-out. However, when you're racing in the lane next to Jack Bates, all you can do is hang on to him as best as you can - he was in a completely different class to the rest of us. I knew that the Bronze Medal was a realistic possibility in this race, so I was delighted to see that 31.49 secs on the scoreboard had been good enough to make it. It's always nice to see a 1-2-3 clean sweep for Nottingham Leander. Unfortunately Adrian Wright (who came 4th) was DQ'd for 'twitching' on the starting blocks before the race started. Still, this another dominant race for the Leander team, and I was proud to be a part of it.
