Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation - Bare All for Polar Bears

ITS NOT EVERYDAY you get a chance to go bare in front of a polar bear. But a unique charity event is looking for fundraising streakers to go starkers at the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The dare to bare dash will allow runners to throw off their clothes and get back to nature for a good cause. The first ever Bare All for Polar Bears, which is open to over 18s only, will involve a short streak at the park, near Doncaster, on Friday, August 21. Runners must be sponsored and the funds will go to the Park’s innovative Project Polar campaign. YWP, which has a sprawling 10-acre reserve divided into four zones, is at the forefront of the conservation efforts for the world's largest carnivores through the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation. The 70-acre walkthrough attraction at Branton, has two polar bears, Victor and Pixel, who may be strolling around their kingdom as the streakers flash past. “Who knows what they will make of it but it will be fun,” said YWP Foundation Trustee Cheryl Williams. “It will be an unforgettable evening. “But there is a serious message to this as well because polar bears are an endangered species that we must try to save. “Funds raised will go to the research programme and help future generations appreciate these incredible animals.” The streak, which was the idea of British Naturism, will be in a restricted area of the park and the only spectators will be friends and family of those who dare to bare. Andrew Welch, of British Naturism, said: “We are delighted to have been asked to be involved with this fantastic event, not only for such a good cause, but at such a well-known and popular tourist attraction. “Nude events in ‘public’ locations are on the increase with members of the public realising what fun it is and how good being naked in the open air feels. There are many more Naturists in the UK than is generally imagined, with a long list of events and other activities happening all around the country We encourage people to challenge their perceptions – and their fears - and come and have an evening they’ll remember forever.” For more information and to sign up please visit ywpfoundation.com/bareallforpolarbears/ For those not brave enough to go bare it isn't too late to go All White. The Go White for Polar Bears fundraising drive continues until November. Supporters are encouraged to dress up in anything white and donate £1 to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation’s Project Polar appeal. All money raised from Go White will go to the Project Polar Appeal of Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation, whose vision is a better world for wild animals. You can download a Go White pack from the YWPF website www.yorkshirewildlifeparkfoundation.com. YWP puts conservation at the heart of all its activities and gives visitors the chance to come almost face to face with some of the world's most beautiful and unique animals, including Amur Tigers and Leopards, Giraffes, Lions, Zebra, Ostrich and Monkeys.
