Venue: Loughborough Student's Union at Loughborough University. ■ Talk: Since the Mid 1990s Professor Gibb has been closely involved with the European Construction Institute; mainly as Project Director of its Safety, Health and Environment task force. He has led many health and safety research projects funded both by Government and industry, served on the London 2012 health and safety legacy steering group and led several research projects on the Olympic Park construction. He also has an impressive research track record in technical innovation -- particularly in offsite construction. He is a founding member of the influential UK industry body 'Buildoffsite', and has led a number of overseas trade missions. ■ Speaker: Health and safety is an important effort to protect human health and life from unnecessary threats; even though it can be seen as boring and bureaucratic, it grows from a long struggle to protect human life. Professor Gibb, who has worked with the health and safety team at the London 2012 Olympics, talks about the practical side of health and safety showing how H&S can be vital and exciting(!). ■ More information about TEDxLoughborough can be found at www.tedxloughborough.com Like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/TEDxLoughborough Follow us on Twitter @TEDxLboro Please address all correspondence to Youcef Hakem, Curator of TEDxLoughborough, at www.ted.com/profiles/1223722 In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
