And the “I told you so” wins just keep pouring in as Patricia Arquette takes home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar and the first win of the night for “Boyhood.” Yeah, I said first win. Cause there’s more coming for “Boyhood.” Whatchu know about that? I know all about that. Yeah. Besides taking home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar, Patricia also snagged the award for seemingly longest run on sentence, though we’ll blame that on being out of breath and excited for her win or maybe it was in preparation for her awesome speech. Arquette took the time to thank the cast and crew of “Boyhood” for it’s groundbreaking twelve-year accomplishment, as well as her friends and family for their continued support. But, by far the best part of the speech was when Patricia made a great call to arms for women across the world - Yeah, girl! Did you see Meryl Streep and JLo whooping along? We all just became best friends. No big deal. The actress’ win has to feel good and slightly more accomplished than most, as Patricia and the rest of the “Boyhood” cast and crew spent twelve – count ‘em – twelve years filming the revolutionary film. During the movie, we not only watch the main character navigate through “Boyhood” itself, but we see all of those supporting roles that help make up that life, with Arquette as the mother, growing and aging physically and mentally right before our eyes, flawlessly taking us through the “adulthood” behind “Boyhood” and deservedly gaining audiences’ and the Academy’s attention. And while Emma Stone may have made a great case in “Birdman” and her Lego Oscar may have been the most adorable thing all night, we’re happy for Patricia Arquette and “Boyhood” and the progress of women in Hollywood!
